i used to think that a foot of parchment was a lot and feel bad when harry potter characters were assigned to write that much

but then i realized the paper i write on is 8.5 by 11 inches.

so a foot of parchment is the equivalent of like, not even a page and a half of paper.

“Are you high?” she asks me. My mind goes into overdrive. Am I high? Or did I just say something so offensive to her that she has to ask if I’m impaired. Neither is true to my knowledge. “No? ” I ask, still afraid the latter might be true. She looks at me and says, “Your pupils are huge. I’ve only seen that on people who are high.” My brain recalls a Fun Fact. It always does. People’s eyes dilate when they look at something, or someone they like. But I’m afraid to say it. Afraid to be cute or romantic.

We talk a while longer. She’s bleeding on my bed from the back of her head. I’m sure any mood I hadn’t yet destroyed with my awkwardness was gone. She has to leave. Her ride will be here any moment. She moves from beside me to above me. She always took the lead. The only time I did was when I thought I was going to lose her. I’m bad at this.

She sits over me and pushes her hair to one side. As she leans over me it falls down and hides our faces from the world. Like what we’re doing is a secret. Her kisses shoot like bolts of lighting down my body. My back tightens. My chest crushes itself but holds just open enough to sustain the breath I take.

Each one is short. But with purpose. Her hips raise a little. I barely notice. She tugs on my lip with her teeth. Her hand wanders down. She makes contact and suddenly my own hips shoot up to meet this new feeling.

I retreat back to my mind. For the past few minutes I’ve been free. Free from thought as a being of pure passion. But this is new, something that must be analyzed. What do I do? I reciprocate. My hand searches for her, finding its target with a bit of struggle.

Her jeans are thick. Is what I’m doing even worth it? My other hand grabs her belt and pulls her into me. Maybe it’ll help somehow. She raises herself and pulls her lips from mine. The world is silent. She fixes her hair a bit.

“Your pupils are huge.” she repeated. I have no qualms with my response, “I guess I really like what I’m looking at.” She understands. The final buzz of her phone is like the bell of a boxing ring. The match is over. I walk her out. I won’t sleep that night.
